Yoga with Lexie Wrightson

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

The main components of yoga are asanas (postures designed to increase strength and flexibility) and pranayama (breathing). The practice originated in India about 5,000 years ago.

Lexie trained as a Zen Yoga teacher with Diazan Julian Skinner, the first Englishman to become a Zen Master in the strict Rinzai tradition.

Zen yoga refers to a variety of physical and energetic practices that can be found within the Zen Buddhist tradition.

Zen Yoga was developed to increase a person’s ability to sit in meditation for prolonged periods of time. Whilst this is not a regular practice in the West, Zen Yoga can help increase your awareness of the body and provide relief and movement to lifestyles that include working behind a desk for prolonged periods.

Zen Yoga emphasises three intertwined areas – physical alignment, the flow of energy in the body, and awareness or mindfulness.

Lessons are based on a hatha style of yoga incorporating Zen practice.

Lexie is also a qualified Yin Yoga teacher. For those of you looking for a more dynamic practice Lexie also teaches Vinasasna flow, Ashtanga Yoga and Rocket Yoga.
